President’s Message

Tampa-Area Seminoles:

It is an honor to serve as the President of the Tampa Bay Seminole Club, one of the largest official “Seminole Clubs” recognized by the Florida State University.    Of course, being a significant alumni/supporter constituent group also brings a significant obligation to provide the University with a level of support that is similarly broad and dynamic.

The measure of our University support is demonstrated in many ways.  Recently, the Club made sizable pledges to the FSU Alumni Association’s Legacy Scholarship Fund, as well as the Seminole Boosters’ Indoor Practice Facility Campaign.    That’s a tangible measure of how the Club helps strengthen FSU’s talent and infrastructure base at a University level.

From a local perspective, the Club is proud to provide annual scholarships to four (4) local students who attend Florida State.  By the end of my term as President, my hope is that we will have fully endowed the Club’s scholarship fund.

While it will take the financial support of family and friends like you to maintain these goals, obviously, supporting FSU isn’t simply measured in dollars and cents.    The Club hosts community service days, civic events, business mixers, and many other wonderful outings each and every year.   When we pack these events with a sea of garnet and gold-clad fans, it sends a message to the Tampa Bay area, to Tallahassee, and throughout the state, that FSU is – and will continue to be – a leader in the 21st century.

Of course, no description of the Club would be complete without mentioning our athletic-themed events.   Our annual football Kickoff Party in Ybor City has become a Bay-area institution, and our game watching parties are always the place to be on Saturday afternoons.

Participation at both the local and the University level is now easier than ever.  Locally, the Club no longer charges annual membership dues.  Instead, we encourage you to participate in FSU’s fantastic national organizations, the FSU Alumni Association and Seminole Boosters.   As a member of either group (or hopefully both!), you will automatically be a Club member at the local level, and will receive incentivized admission, discounts, and other great perks at many of our events.

For information about our events, check out our website (www.tampanoles.com), and if you haven’t already done so, sign up for our e-newsletter.  For those of you that are social media savvy, “like” our Facebook page, or follow us on Twitter.

The Tampa Bay Seminole Club offers something for all of the Seminoles in your family.   On behalf of our Board of Directors and the 12,000 local alumni we serve, we’re glad to call you a friend.

In Seminole Spirit,
